Mike was the Grand Prize Winner drawn from the names of the Trail Patrollers for the 17 Districts of the OFSC for the 2006/2007 snowmobiling season. Pancake Breakfast 2007

It may have been a little chilly outside but the pancakes and sausages were nice and warm inside. Bill, Ross and myself were your servers and I think we made for a good team, we didn't drop anything and we didn't have to throw anything at each other. Ok that might have been fun but I'd rather eat it than throw it. We had about 65 people including some of our cross country ski friends. Thanks for stopping by. A few photos of the event can be found in our Photo Album. Cheers, Kevin Malley /P>

Poker Run 2007

The snow held, the weather was great and we couldn't have asked for better poker hands. 41 hands were dealt and I lost track of how many people managed to get pull 3 of a kind. Our winning hand was three 9's by Ivan Patton. Congradulations Ivan. A few photos of the event can be found in our photo album /P>

OFSC Trails Update

--Posted Nov 1, 2006--
The OFSC has been working closely behind the scenes with our partners, the Ontario Federation of Agriculture (OFA) regarding the possibility of trail closures in some districts. We are now pleased to report that:

1. To the best of our knowledge, the possibility of limited trail closures are only reported to date in Districts 1, 4, 5 and 9. No other OFSC districts appear to be impacted at this time.

2. Last week, after meeting with the OFSC, the Ontario Federation of Agriculture (OFA) made a clear and unequivocal decision NOT to support trail closures and to request that their members allow access for OFSC snowmobile trails this winter.

3. As a result, with the possible exception of a few isolated local pockets in the aforementioned districts, the vast majority of farmers will continue to allow OFSC trails across their land this winter. Even in the very limited areas that may be affected, clubs are developing trail re-routes wherever possible, so riders will still be able to snowmobile this winter.

Canteen Open at the Forest Center

Over the summer the Ganaraska Snowmobile club and the Ganaraska Forest Center came to new agreement to keep the Canteen open when snow permits on weekends only. In other words if the trails are open on a Saturday or Sunday the Canteen will be open. We are also very happy to report that Ross Winters will return for a 3rd year with is fantastic cooking.
